Help elect jose!
Help elect jose!

“I will provide the LEADERSHIP, bring the CHANGE and deliver the RESULTS needed for our 33rd District Communities—Tulare, Porterville, Reedley, Kingsburg, Hanford, Lemoore, Avenal, Corcoran, Dinuba, Farmersville, Lindsay, Woodlake and portions of northern Visalia as well as rural communities.

Jose Sigala

Jose's Story

CHILD OF IMMIGRANTS

Jose Sigala is the proud son of Mexican immigrants. Like many immigrants, his parents came to this country to pursue the American Dream. Although Jose’s parent had no formal education, they worked hard to provide for their family.

Watching his father work as a dishwasher, laborer, farmworker and never complain taught Jose a valuable lesson about sacrifice, including the important values of hard work, respect and caring for others.

Because of the sacrifices his parents made, Jose was the first in his family to graduate from high school and earn a college degree. Jose is a proud product of public schools from head start to college. He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.

COMMITMENT TO SERVICE

For his entire life, Jose, has been a champion of working-class families and an ardent advocate for safer neighborhoods, parks/open space, after school programs, small business, responsible development, the environment, education and neighborhood empowerment.

Jose has over 25 years of legislative and public policy experience working in the California State Legislature and local government where he has worked to improve the quality of life in communities across California.

PROVEN LEADERSHIP

In 2016, Jose was elected to the Tulare City Council to represent the 1st Council District. His grassroots campaign allowed him to build a coalition of community, labor and business leaders to defeat an incumbent and overwhelmingly win his council seat.

In 2018, Jose was selected to become the City of Tulare's 39th and First Latino Mayor. He served as Mayor from 2018 - 2020 where he helped provide leadership in the city at the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jose was re-elected to serve the residents of the 1st District in 2020 for another 4-year term.
